A movement encouraging men to get outside and support each other.

Mountain men started off as a realisation that a bit of fresh air and conversation can help so much.

’In England, around one in eight men has a common mental health problem such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).’

2 years ago, after 5 years in the marines, followed by working in through the pandemic on the ‘front line’, Dom had his first breakdown. He found more than anything it was long walks and talking to friends that saved his life.

In January, Dom opened up his walks to more than just his friends. Starting Mountain Men on Instagram, he invited others struggling to join him and the dogs on a walk every other Sunday, the response was more than he imagined. Join him on a walk, talking as little or as much as you want.

DOMINIC THOMAS

Founder of Mountain Men

Dom is just the same as the guy next to you at the bar, on the train, or maybe in the gym.

Sometimes he feels great, sometimes he really doesn’t. He’s no expert but it doesn’t take one to realise men are shit at opening up.

Dom founded Mountain Men, a grassroots mental health group to support the men around him, who he saw struggling. He’s found a way to share the tools he’d found to support his recovery, and use his experience to support others.
